ABSTRACT

Conclusion:

PHP seems to be occasionally effective for identifying central macular dysfunction in patients having acute CSCR.

Results:

Twelve eyes of 10 patients (2 female, 8 male) with a mean age of 42.4±6.0 years and a mean visual acuity of 0.6±0.2 were recruited in the study. Mean macular thickness was found to be 660.0±362.0 μm by OCT. In 4 eyes significant scotoma was detected in hyperacutiy deviation map by PHP, however in 8 eyes hyperacuity deviation map was entirely normal. Eyes with scotomas detected by PHP and normal PHP evaluations were compared by means of visual acuity and mean macular thickness, and no statistically significant difference was found (Mann-Whitney U test, p=0.368 ve p=0.570 respectively).

Materials and Methods:

Patients diagnosed to have acute onset CSCR were enrolled in the study. All participants were evaluated by fundus şuorescein angiography (FFA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) after a detailed ophthalmic examination. Central 14°x14° visual field were tested by PHP (Foresee PHP, Notalvision). Hyperacuity deviation map and hyperacuity defect maps were recorded by PHP. Patients having high false positive or false negative ratios were excluded.

Purpose:

To evaluate central macular functions by preferential hyperacuity perimetry (PHP) in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR).

Keywords:
Central serous chorioretinopathy, preferential hyperacuity perimetry
